MRH90 Sustainment Training courses
Australian Aerospace Training Services are in the process of designing and developing the suite of training courses which will allow military personnel to experience on the MRH90 (and associated training devices) and enable full trade qualifications.
Trainees successfully completing these courses are awarded Statements of Attainment relevant to the specific course.
Virtual Systems Trainer (VST)
Training Services Department in, conjunction with Catalyst Interactive, is currently developing the VST to support maintenance personnel training on the MRH90. This system, when complete, will allow students to carry out maintenance tasks in a virtual environment as part of their trade qualification training.
Aircraft Familiarisation Courses
Each aircraft type has its own safety concerns that personnel and clients must be aware of. The Familiarisation courses created by the Training Services are nationally accredited and fully customised to individual platforms, ensuring that the most relevant and up-to-date information is provided.
Trainees successfully completing this course are awarded a Statement of Attainment for PUAFIR209B Work Safely Around Aircraft.
Human Factors
- recertification
Human factors involves all aspects of the way people relate to the world around them, with the aim of improving operational performance, safety, through life costs and/or adoption through improvement in the experience of the end user. This activity based Aviation Maintenance Human Factors Awareness Training Course is to assist individuals to be better team members, improve their job performance and as a result increase workplace safety.
At Australian Aerospace we have been committed to demonstrating the quality of our products and ensuring that our solutions meets our clients’ needs. Our Human Factors training course has been independently evaluated by PhD Candidate Ms Claire Ryan at the School of Psychology, Griffith University. Training outcomes have been measured in a pre-post matched experimental-control research design. This evaluation was completed in early December 2009 and a follow up evaluation was completed in June 2010. This evaluation captured the training course’s impact upon employee attitudes and behaviours, and also measured the effect the training has on safety climate, culture, and organisational indexes.
Implementation has been successful.
Recertification is to commence in June 2011 to ensure all students have continuing currency.

Airmobile Training Needs Analysis
(MRH90, S-70A-9 Blackhawk, CH-47D Chinook)
Military aviation missions within the Australian Army are composed of a number of different aspects, including tactical flying (ROBC), Special Operations, Deck Landings, and High Density Altitude flights. Australian Aerospace Training Services performed a Training Needs Analysis on the existing training materials, and determined that the courses required updates to relate to the latest AVI08 Aviation Training Package. From the TNA, we designed a range of packages to ensure that the abilities of the Army’s Aircrew remain world-class.
CH-47D Chinook upgrades and Aircrew courses
With a range of new technology being added to the CH-47D Chinook, and the extant training courses requiring an update, an in-depth Training Needs Analysis was performed. New courses were designed for the platform so the Australian Army could operate the helicopter to its full capabilities.
MRH90 Transition Stage Training courses
With the introduction of the MRH90, it has been necessary to create a range of courses to enable the transferral of skills and knowledge to those who operate and maintain the helicopter. The trainees have previous experience on other platforms (such as the Blackhawk and Iroquois) so Australian Aerospace Training Services have designed and developed a full range of courses to support their transition to the new platform.
All courses will reinforce previous training and experience and are linked to nationally accredited training packages.
ARH Tiger Instructor Simulator course
With the implementation of the Full Flight and Mission Simulator for the ARH Tiger, it has become necessary to provide training on how to use the equipment. Australian Aerospace Training Services created a Training Package to support the training (this is now the first nationally accredited package of its kind within Australia) and have developed a course to allow it’s trainees to gain the qualification to operate the flight simulator.

EE500 Maintenance Documentation

The EE500 course is designed to ensure evidence is gathered to capture both the theoretical and practical aspects for complying with the ADF Aircraft Maintenance Documentation Framework. Evidence specifically will be gathered to capture the trainees’ ability to identify, interpret and correctly complete ADF Maintenance Documentation IAW AAP7001.059 and local Standing Instructions.
